Extracurricular activity ideas
College applications can suck. They are stressful, nerve-racking, and a lot of work. Hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
This first set gives you broad starting points. The specific examples show activities students have pursued with real depth, ownership, or sustained contribution. Use both lists to notice work you might enjoy, try something new, and learn what you may want to study or do later.
These are not things to do only for the sake of a college application, and they are not requirements or promises of admission. Do not copy an impressive title that does not match your real work. Try a bunch of things and see how they feel.

How to choose
- Circle the ideas that make you curious, even if they do not sound prestigious.
- Check what already exists at your school or in your community.
- Try one small commitment before promising a full year.
- Look for ways to contribute, improve something, or take responsibility over time.
- Keep notes about what you did, what changed, and what you learned.
Depth usually matters more than collecting a long list. It is better to care deeply about a few activities than to participate superficially in many.
Good luck, soldier. Go find something that makes you want to keep showing up.
